BOLIVIA’S INFAMOUS DISH 

 

 

 

 

 

SAICE ( Bolivia’s Infamous Dish )

( Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’s………Last Meal )

Ingredients  :

1 pound beef

1/2 cup of oil
1 cup green peas
2 cups white onion, finely chopped
1 cup tomato, peeled and finely chopped
½ cup ground spicy red pepper
1 pinch of oregano.
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 spoonful salt
3 cups broth
8 potatoes, ( peeled and boiled separately )
steamed rice
2 spoonfuls parsley, finely chopped
Directions :
:
Cut the meat into very small pieces in a casserole, combine the meat with all the other ingredients, including the broth or water. Set to cook over high heat until it boils and later over low heat, for at least an hour or until everything is very well cooked., add broth or hot water as needed .

Serve in a deep plate with one cooked potato, rice or noodles .
Add on top chopped parsley and onion.

BORSCHT .( Russian Soup )

MEXICAN COOKING FOR gringos.

BORSCHT .( Russian Soup )

With a Mexican Touch .

Ingredients :

2 pounds beef soup bones

2 quarts water, or more as needed
12 carrots, chopped
6 potatoes, cubed
1 head cabbage, finely chopped
3 onions, minced
1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
10 whole allspice berries
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon salt
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups chopped tomato
1/2 cup heavy cream

1 Jalapeno (pickled) Pepper ( per guest )

Directions :

Bring beef soup bones and water to a boil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, adding more water, as necessary, to maintain the 2 quart level. Remove and discard the soup bones ( Save them for your Dogs, they will be very glad )
Then strain the broth into a fresh pot, and return to the stove.

Stir in the carrots, potatoes, cabbage, onions, parsley, allspice berries, bay leaf, , salt, and pepper. Cook until the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork, about 20 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and return soup to a boil. Serve individual bowls of soup topped with a full spoon of Sour Cream and a whole (pickled)

Jalapeno Pepper on top.

NOTE : Too much food ?…..invite your neighbor .

LEBANESE BURGER

MEXICAN COOKING FOR GRINGOS

LEBANESE BURGER “

1 lb. Ground Beef
1/2 lb. Ground Veal.
l tsp.Olive Oil.
1/4 ” Salt.
1/4 ” Pepper
1/2 cup finely chopped Onion
1/2 cup ” ” Parsley.

Instructions :

Mix all ingredients well and form patties.

Fry or GRILL (Highly recomended )

Place on Bun,tortilla ,Pita or you favorite Wrapping.

Add slice tomatoes,lettuce and dress it
with, either ” Salsa “, Chopped cucumber and yogurt,  or any dressing.

NOTE : This recipe, may look like the Mexican Hamburger, BUT
it is a very good alternative IF CILANTRO IS NOT AVAILABLE
in your favorite store.

A TASTE OF HONEY WITH SOPAPILLAS

                               MEXICAN COOKING FOR GRINGOS

” SIMPLE SOPAPILLAS “

( Serves 4 people )

Ingredients  :

2 Flour Tortillas
Oil
Cinnamon w/sugar
Honey.

Instructions : Cut tortillas into triangles,stack them
w/parchment paper.   Freeze overnight.

In frying pan heat oil (must be deep)
Fry til golden, dry on paper towels.

Sprinkle with Cinnamon & sugar.
Add Honey at discretion  and   ENJOY  !

CAUTION       :       Drop  TORTILLA  triangles carefully to hot oil pan, they will  inflate immediately.

TROUBLESHOOT :                                               

                                   – Not enough heat.

                                     -Not enough  oil.

Tortilla triangles are NOT frozen.

If nothing happens…………..HOLD BACK  ” party ” TO A LATER TIME.
